We hope you had a nice weekend.  We are getting ready for an exciting week!

The weather chart was due today, not Friday as our January 20th letter stated.  We apologize for the misinformation.  If your child has not turned in the chart, please have him/her bring it in tomorrow.

Next week, we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week!  Our school is planning some exciting events - more information will follow; we are kicking off this special week with a school Mass on Sunday, January 29 at 11:00, followed by an open house.  This is a mandatory school Mass and all the students must attend in full uniform.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are this week.  If you have not turned in your confirmation, please send it in tomorrow so I can schedule accordingly.  Thank you.

Please see "Language Arts" and "Math" for updated information.

Our Star of the Week is Mariana.

Have a wonderful week!

We hope you had a nice three day weekend.  Now it's back to another busy week in first grade!  We are starting Week 2 of Theme 5 in our Reading Program and the new words are posted under "Language Arts".

The oral presentations on the Martin Luther King, Jr. project will be this Thursday, January 19.  The children are bringing home their papers to practice.  They will be able to refer to their paper while presenting it, but it would be better if they memorize it.  One of our goals in first grade is for the students to be good public speakers.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are January 25th, 26th, and 27th.  School will dismiss at 12:15 on those days, but after-school care is available.  We will be sending home a schedule soon with your conference appointment time.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24th we will celebrate the 100th day of school!  We will have an in class celebration!  More Information will follow.

Our Star of the Week is Madison!

Have a wonderful week!

Happy New Year!  We are looking forward to an exciting 2012 in first grade!

We will be reviewing Theme 4 in our Reading Program this week, so there will be no new words.  We will start Theme 5 on Monday, January 9.  We will also be reviewing the concept of time in Math for the rest of this week.

Thank you to the students who returned their Advent Prayer Chart today.  If it wasn't turned in today, it must be in this week.

Have a wonderful week!

This morning was a beautiful celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Thank you for all your help.  The children did an outstanding job!

We are not assigning any homework this evening since the first graders worked so hard this morning!  However, please see our Math tab for updated IXL information that the students can practice at home.

Our Star of the Week is Krystal!

Christmas vacation begins on Tuesday, December 20 with 12:15 dismissal and there is no after school care that day.  School will resume on January 4.

Please see our Language Arts for our new words for this week, and our Math for new information.

December 8 is a Holy Day of Obligation - (the Feast of the Immaculate Conception).  We will be attending the 8:10 a.m. Mass (full uniform).  December 11 is our Primary Academy's School Liturgy at 11:00 a.m.  The students need to attend this Mass and wear full uniform.  Please have your child meet us at the back of the church at 10:50 a.m., and we will process in as a class and sit at the front of the church as a class.

December 12 we will be celebrating Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe and first grade is so excited to participate.  More information will follow later this week.

Thank you so much for the generous donations of toys for our school's annual toy drive.  Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

Our Star of the Week is DION!!

We hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.  We would like to thank all of you for all the delicious food as well as the supplies that you provided for our multi-cultural Thanksgiving feasts (both of them - the one in our classroom on November 21, and the whole school one on November 23.)  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

It is hard to believe that this is the first week of Advent.  If you are able to stay for a few minutes in the mornings, we will be having a small Advent prayer service every morning in the small yard during Advent (except Mondays).

The first graders will be presenting their "Pilgrims of Today" oral report on Wednesday, November 30.  The information was sent home last week.

Please see our "Language Arts" tab for the new words for this week, as we opened Theme 4 in our Reading Program today.

Sunday, December 11 is the Primary Academy's School Mass at 11:00.  Monday, December 12 is the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe and first grade will be participating in the 8:10 Mass.  We need a total of 23 adults to process in with us and carry a flag.  If you could please consider staying for the Mass and participating in the procession
at the beginning of the Mass, we would greatly appreciate it.  This is not mandatory; we know that many of you have work obligations.  Please see Mrs. De La Cruz if you can carry a flag.

Our Star of the Week is Trinity!

Thank you for all that you do for us.  We hope you have a wonderful week!

We are having our annual first grade Thanksgiving Feast on Monday, November 21.  We will have a sign up sheet on our door tomorrow.

Thank you to all of you who took time out of your busy schedules to meet with me for your Parent/Teacher Conferences.

We will be attending Mass this Thursday, November 17 to honor our patron saint, St. Elisabeth.  The students must be in full uniform and bring their P.E.clothes in a bag with their name clearly marked.  Please bring in a canned good so we can make a contribution to our SERV Center.

We are reviewing Theme 3 in our Reading Program this week, so we will not be introducing new words this week.  Please see our Math tab for new information.

Thank you to the children who brought in their "Pilgrims of Today" report and picture.  If your child has not brought it in yet, we do need it by Wednesday, November 16.  Thank you.

Have a wonderful week.

    Mrs. De La Cruz

I am excited to begin a new school year at St. Elisabeth.  This is my home Parish and I have taught here for 19 years. In addition to being a teacher here, I am also the Vice Principal and a proud parent.  All four of my own children have attended St. Elisabeth School. Teaching is my passion and my vocation.  I have experience teaching  Kindergarten, First grade and Second grade. I also teach English as a Second HLanguage (ESL) to adult students at Los Angeles Mission College. This year is a new journey that I look forward to sharing with the first grade.
